The system is then run in both cooling and heating to confirm everything works. If anything needs repair, you’ll get a fixed quote first.
Once a year for ducted systems and any split system over five years old. A newer split in a low-dust home can usually go two years if you clean the filters yourself. Many manufacturers also expect regular servicing to keep the warranty valid, so keep your receipts.
About 45 minutes for a standard split system. Ducted systems usually take 60 to 90 minutes because of the zone motors, dampers and return air filter. Your technician will let you know if anything will take longer.

No. A service checks refrigerant pressure, but it doesn’t top it up. Air conditioners are sealed systems, so low refrigerant means there’s a leak somewhere, and your technician will find the leak before recommending any regas.
A service is a routine clean and check of the unit. Extensive Cleaning is a deeper clean for systems with heavy dust, mould or a musty smell, often ones that haven’t been serviced in years. Ductwork is a separate job again, covered by ducted system cleaning.
Yes. A reverse-cycle service tests both heating and cooling, because systems often fail in one mode while working in the other. Gas ducted, hydronic and gas wall heaters are covered under heating repair and service.
Yes. Every technician holds a current ARCtick refrigerant handling licence and the electrical or gas trade licence required in your state. Public liability cover is $20 million per claim, and licence numbers are available on request.
